Since 2001, Powernext has developed a solid expertise in the design and operations of spot and futures gas, power and emissions exchanges. Additionally, it also provides energy-related services, including algorithmic trading softwares for balancing and market coupling services, auction platforms and a registry solution for power capacity certificates.
In order to diminish operational risks, as well as organisational issues and costs, Powernext has developed algorithmic trading solutions which provide, among other things, simple and efficient 24/7 balancing services.
Auctions are an efficient mean of selling off a good, or matching supply and demand. Powernext has acquired a recognised expertise in designing and organising electronice auctions in the energy sector.
In our natural gas markets, Powernext provides services to Transmission System Operators (TSOs) to support their balancing activities.
Energinet.dk performs its balancing on the PEGAS platform. It also uses several indices published by Powernext for its balancing, particularly the Within-Day Reference Price.
Gaspool performs its balancing on the PEGAS platform, which also offers locational and hourly balancing products. Addtionally, quality specific (low and high quality gas) are available for all registered market members.
Fluxys performs its balancing on the PEGAS platform. PEGAS indices are also utilised by Fluxys to invoice imbalance charges.
NCG performs its balancing on this trading hub through the PEGAS platform. Moreover, PEGAS indices are used by GTS to invoice imbalance charges.
Powernext operates 24/7 auction on the CEGH Within-Day product. This product, contrary to Powernext standard configuration, has been set up in automatching to respect Central European Gas Hub and the Austrian MAM constraints.
During several daily sessions, GRTgaz automatically performs its balancing on PEGAS through a software specifically developed by Powernext for this purpose. The TSO also receives every 5 minutes average price and marginal price files used to calculate imbalance charges.
TIGF automatically performs its daily balancing on PEGAS through a software specifically developed by Powernext.
NCG performs its balancing on this trading hub through the PEGAS platform. Moreover, PEGAS indices are used by GTS to invoice imbalance charges.
